Surgical management of neck of femur fractures
It will teach you about neck of femur fractures and how to treat them. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Describe the blood supply of the femoral head
- Understand the difference between extracapsular and intracapsular fractures
- Choose the right fixation technique for each type of fracture
- Explain the biomechanics of different fixation methods
- Understand the evidence base for choosing between different fixation methods
- Perform a simulated dynamic hip screw fixation and a simulated cemented hip hemiarthroplasty under supervision
