About Us
The Orthopaedic Institute Ltd is a registered charity (charity registration no. 1044906) based at the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Oswestry. (www.rjah.nhs.uk)
One of our major activities is to organise courses for specialist registrars and consultants. These courses attract a large attendance from all over the country and are also popular for overseas surgeons wishing to extend their knowledge and specialism.
It is therefore highly recommended you book in advance as many of the courses are in great demand. Instruction is provided by highly specialised consultant trainers at the hospital many of whom are nationally and internationally recognised for their expertise.
For further details on any of the courses we offer please contact Alison Whitelaw, Institute Administrator, via the 'contact' page.
There are books that accompany the courses which will put you in good stead for the Intercollegiate FRCS(Tr & Orth) exam. These are pubished by the Institute of Orthopaedics (Oswestry) Publishing Group. They can also be purchased separately and are listed on the ‘Books Page’.
Courses for other health care professionals are organised i.e. physiotherapists. GP's, orthotists
Within the Institute of Orthopaedics is the Postgraduate Education Centre where the in-house teaching is organised. Also administered from here is the Oswestry/Stoke Orthopaedic Training Programme. This is one of three training programmes for specialty trainees in trauma and orthopaedics within the West Midlands Region. For further details contact judith.harris@rjah.nhs.uk.
